Jimmer Fredette tracker, CBA game 19: Fredette leads Sharks to best record record in the CBA with another monster double-double

The Shanghai Sharks bounced back from a difficult overtime loss on Friday night with a big 103-87 win over the Zhejiang Guangsha Lions on Sunday to improve to 17-2 at the midway point of the season.

Jimmer Fredette once again paced the Sharks with a game-high 35 points on 13 for 23 shooting from the floor, including 4 for 10 from beyond the arc and 5 for 5 from the free-throw line. He added a game-high 16 rebounds, including three on the offensive end to go along with four assists and three steals in only 34:33 of action.

The Sharks’ defense ruled the day in the win as they held the Lions to just 36.6 percent shooting from the floor and 19 percent from the 3-point line.

The Lions tried to answer the poor shooting performance by hitting the offensive glass with 26 offensive rebounds, including 11 from Elijah Holman, but it wasn’t enough to overcome 64 missed shots.

Guerschon Yabusele also had a big night in the win with 25 points on 50 percent shooting from the floor and 4 for 5 from the foul line with 15 rebounds and a pair of steals.

Liu XiaoYu added 12 points, seven assists and six rebounds while Zhang ZhaoXu chipped in with 11 points and nine rebounds.

Courtney Fortson led the way for the Lions with 26 points, but made just 11 of 30 shots from the floor, including 1 for 9 from beyond the arc.

Hu Jinqiu added 14 points and nine rebounds while Holman managed nine points and 14 boards as the Lions dropped to 14-5 on the season.

On the season, Fredette is averaging a league-leading 39.4 points on 49.5 percent shooting from the floor, including 40.6 percent from 3-point range and 92.1 percent from the free-throw line. He also chips in with 9.5 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 2.2 steals.

Up next for Fredette and the Sharks is a matchup with the Zhejiang Golden Bulls on Wednesday. The Golden Bulls are 6-13 on the season after a 100-96 win over Liaoning.

This is the second game of the season between the two teams with the Sharks coming away with a 123-105 win the first time around.

Two players to watch for the Golden Bulls are Willie Warren and Lorenzo Brown.

Warren is averaging 31.5 points, 7.4 assists and 7.3 rebounds while Brown is putting up 18 points, 10.5 rebounds, 5.5 steals and 5.0 assists in  his two games since joining the team.
