As the NBA starts for the majority of teams tonight so does the career of former BYU big man Brandon Davies. Davies spent training camp and the pre-season with the Los Angeles Clippers before being waived, but landed on his feet just a few days later when he was signed by the Philadelphia 76ers.
Although his playing time situation or if he will even dress is known at this time it is good to see Davies on an NBA roster with the chance to live his dream and we will follow it every step of the way.
Another former Cougar also starts his season tonight. That is third year guard Jimmer Fredette. Even though Jimmer is still with the Kings, his playing situation is very much up in the air as well. Fredette played well in the pre-season but is a part of a very crowded back court in Sacramento. He started three of the four games he played in and averaged 10.5 points, 3.3 assists, 1.8 rebounds and 1.5 steals while shooting 51.5 percent from the field and 60 percent from the three-point line. The Kings added point guard Greivis Vasquez in the off-season while also drafting two guards in Ben McLemore and Ray McCallum over the summer.
No matter their situations on the floor, we will be tracking each player all season long as part of the BYU Cougar NBA tracker. Included in that will be game by game analysis as well as updated stats.
