BYU Cougs in the news: Davies has big game in win; Bartley has huge scoring performance; Toolson earns player of the game

Brandon Davies had a big performance on Saturday as Zalgiris Kaunas advanced to the KMT Cup final with an 88-74 win over Panevezys Lietkabelis.

Davies recorded a game-high 17 points on 50 percent shooting from the field and 9-for-10 from the foul line. He added a game-best seven rebounds (two on the offensive end) to go along with an assist, a steal and a block in just 18:03 of work.

Davies also had a solid showing in the KMT Cup quarterfinal with eight points, four rebounds, an assist and a block in 16:11 on the floor in an 85-78 win over Siauliai.

Frank Bartley IV also had a massive performance on Saturday as the Ragin’ Cajuns crushed Texas-Arlington 100-79. Bartley finished with a team-high 25 points on 8-for-15 shooting from the field, including 4-for-9 from 3-point land and 5-for-5 from the foul line. He added two steals, a rebound and an assist as Louisiana improved to 23-4 on the season, including 13-1 in the Sun Belt.

On the season, Bartley is averaging 17.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.3 steals in 30 minutes.

Jamal Aytes had a big effort as well as the Southern Utah Thunderbirds got beat by Northern Arizona 97-80. Aytes recorded a team-high 19 points on 9-for-12 shooting from the field and 1-for-1 from the foul line. He chipped in with four rebounds and a block in 30 minutes.

It was his 12th straight game scoring in double figures.

On the season, Aytes is averaging 12.7 points on 57.7 percent shooting with 5.3 rebounds in 20.8 minutes a game.

Jake Toolson had a big game as the Utah Valley Wolverines beat UT Rio Grande Valley 84-72. He finished with 16 points on 6-for-9 shooting from the floor, 1-for-2 from beyond the arc and 3-for-3 from the foul line. He added eight rebounds, three assists, a block and a steal in 29 minutes to earn the player of the game.

On the season, Toolson is averaging 12.2 points on 52.1 percent shooting from the field with 5.0 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 28.3 minutes.

Isaac Neilson also played an important role in the win as he totaled nine points on 2-for-3 shooting from the floor and 5-for-5 from the foul line. He added four rebounds, a block and a steal in 16 minutes.

On the season, he is averaging 5.7 points on 65.3 percent shooting with 4.9 rebounds in 15.5 minutes.

Jordan Chatman had a tough shooting day as the Boston College Eagles fell 84-67 to Notre Dame. He finished with four points on 2-for-11 shooting from the floor, including 0-for-7 from distance. He added six rebounds and three assists in 37 minutes.

On the season, Chatman is averaging 12.5 points on 40.1 percent shooting from 3-point range. He also chips in with 2.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 36 minutes.

Tyler Haws was also in action on Saturday, but went scoreless on 0-for-3 shooting from the field in five minutes in a 107-104 win over the Niagara River Lions.

In 15 games, he is averaging 6.0 points on 41.3 percent shooting with 1.1 rebounds in 17.3 minutes.
