Jimmer Fredette Tracker, CBA game 23: Sharks overcome sluggish start to beat Long-Lions

The Shanghai Sharks overcame a terrible first-quarter performance to knock of the Guangzhou Long-Lions 100-93 on the road on Friday.

The Sharks scored just 13 points in the first quarter as they fell behind by 14 points before turning up the offense. They scored 27 points in the second quarter to cut the deficit to 10 at the break before taking over in the third.

Shanghai put together a 60-point second half, while holding the Long-Lions to just 43 points to improve to 21-2 on the season.

Guerschon Yabusele and Jimmer Fredette led the way for the Sharks in the win. Yabusele finished with a game-high 29 points on 10 for 17 shooting from the floor, including 5 for 8 from beyond the arc to go along with eight rebounds.

Fredette registered 28 points on 10 for 25 shooting from the field, including 2 for 7 from 3-point range and 6 for 7 from the free-throw line. He added eight rebounds, three assists and three steals in 36:49.

Liu XiaoYu also had a big night for Shanghai as he totaled 26 points on 11 for 15 shooting from the floor, including 3 for 5 from distance to go along with five assists and three rebounds.

Zheng Zhun paced the Long-Lions with 19 points on 8 for 16 shooting with five rebounds while D.J. Kennedy added 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

Alex Stepheson chipped in with 14 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.

On the season, Fredette is averaging 39 points on 50 percent shooting from the floor, including 40.9 percent from 3-point land and 92.4 percent from the foul line. He also chips in with 9.1 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 2.0 steals.

Up next for Fredette and the Sharks is a huge match-up with the Guandong Southern Tigers.

The Southern Tigers are in second place in the league at 19-4 on the season after a 133-110 loss to Liaoning. Some players to watch are former NBA players, Donald Sloan and Carlos Boozer.

Sloan is averaging 26.3 points, 6.7 assists and 4.9 rebounds while Boozer puts up 15.6 points and 11.1 rebounds.

Another player of note is former NBA first round pick Yi Jianlian who is averaging 24.6 points and 10.6 rebounds a night.
