Jimmer Fredette had another impressive offensive night as the Shanghai Sharks improved to 3-0 on the season with an 86-79 win over the Jiangsu Dragons in Jiangsu on Friday night.
Fredette led all scorers for the third straight game, finishing with 35 points on 15 for 28 shooting from the floor, including 3 for 9 from beyond the arc and 2 for 2 from the foul line. He added four rebounds, two assists and a steal in 40:40 of action.
Zhang Zhaoxu added 11 points and 13 rebounds while registered Liu Xiao Yu managed 13 points, six rebounds and five assists.
Guerschon Yabusele had a rough night from the field making just 3 of 9 shots, but still managed eight points to go along with 14 rebounds and three assists.
MarShon Brooks led the way for the Dragons with 29 points on 10 for 24 shooting from the floor including 4 for 10 from 3-point range. Former Louisville product Samardo Samuels also had a nice night with 21 points and 11 rebounds.
On the season, Fredette is averaging 40.3 points on 55.1 percent shooting from the field and 100 percent from the free-throw line. He is also averaging 5.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.0 steals in
Up next for Fredette and the Sharks is a Sunday matchup with the Guangzhou Long-Lions. The Long -Lions are 0-3 on the season after a tough 101-95 defeat to Liaoning on Friday. In fact, they have lost all three games by five points or less.
Leading the way is former Connecticut standout Ryan Boatright who is putting up big numbers in China after spending the 2015-16 split between the D-League and Italy. Through two games, he is averaging 29.5 points, 4.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds.
Another familiar face is Alex Kirk who played at New Mexico before spending time with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He is averaging 10 points and 11.5 rebounds through two games.
