In a tightly contested affair, the Brooklyn Nets outlasted the Boston Celtics 109-107 on Friday afternoon.
Jarrett Jack led the way for the Nets with 27 points on 8 of 14 shooting from the floor and 10 for 10 from the free-throw line. He added seven rebounds, five assists and three steals as Brooklyn won for the third straight time. Mason Plumlee and Alan Anderson also made solid contributions. Plumlee totaled 14 points on 6 of 7 shooting as well as 12 rebounds and three assists while Anderson added 15 points on 3 of 4 shooting from beyond the arc and a pair of steals. Deron Williams came off the bench in his return to action and totaled eight points, four rebounds and four assists.
Jeff Green had a nice offensive showing for the Celtics with 22 points on 10 of 18 shooting to go along with five assists. Jared Sullinger and Avery Bradley also played well in the loss. Sullinger finished with 19 points and eight rebounds while Bradley 17 points on 3 of 5 shooting from the 3-point line. Tyler Zeller added 14 points on 6 of 9 shooting and nine boards while Marcus Smart chipped in with five points, six assists, four steals and three rebounds.
Brandon Davies did not play for the Nets in the win. It is the third time that he hasn’t played since he was traded to Brooklyn. In five games with the Nets, Davies is averaging 3.2 points and two rebounds in 7.6 minutes a night.
Up next for Davies and Brooklyn is a matchup with the Indiana Pacers on Saturday.
