The New Orleans starters didn’t put up much of a fight as the Pelicans got drilled by the Portland Trail Blazers 114-88 on Saturday night.
LaMarcus Aldridge led the way for Portland with 27 points on 60 percent shooting from the floor to go along with 12 rebounds, three steals and two blocks. He got plenty of help as four other Blazers scored in double figures. Damian Lillard had 17 points and seven assists while Chris Kaman contributed 16 points on 8 of 10 shooting and six boards. Thomas Robinson added 12 points while Nicolas Batum chipped in with 11 points, five assists and three steals.
None of the New Orleans starters scored more than seven points in the embarrassing loss as they combined for just 28 points on 11 of 43 shooting from the field. Austin Rivers and Ryan Anderson carried the scoring load coming off the bench. Rivers had 21 points on the strength of an 11 of 12 night from the free-throw line while Anderson totaled 16 points and five rebounds. Alexis Ajinca also had a nice night with 10 points and 13 boards while Anthony Davis had seven points, six rebounds and five blocks.
Jimmer Fredette saw 10:53 of action and scored two points on a pair of made free-throws, but missed all three of his attempts from the field. The only other stat he recorded on the night was a steal that led to his free-throws.
Up next for Fredette and the Pelicans is a Sunday night matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
