Ranking the best starting quarterbacks in the NFL today: #16-9

16.  Eli Manning- Manning has taken a step back this season because he is so sporadic.  He has really struggled with consistency thanks in part to a lackluster ground game and injuries to the wide receiver position.  If not for his two Super Bowl rings and his success in the past, Manning would be a lot lower on this list.

15.  Alex Smith- Smith is now a member of the Kansas City Chiefs and having great success.  His numbers don’t blow you away but he is doing a great job of leading a team that won two games a season ago to a 5-0 record.

14.  Ben Roethlisberger- big Ben has thrown for a ton of yards this season for a bad football team.  The Steelers have really struggled all year-long and Roethlisberger doesn’t seem to be able to find an answer to help him.

13.  Michael Vick- Vick is long past his prime and it was a little shocking that he beat out Nick Foles for the starting job in Philadelphia.  Chip Kelly’s offense is perfect for Vick and he has re-energized his career.  Although Vick is banged up he has played very well in the time he has been on the field.

12.  Joe Flacco- after a remarkable playoff run which ended with a Super Bowl ring Flacco got paid like he was a top-tier quarterback.  The problem is after losing his top two weapons from a season ago, Flacco isn’t playing like one.  With his safety nets, Flacco has really struggled with his decision-making and has been intercepted eight times already.

11.  Jay Cutler- Cutler has never been able to replicate the kind of seasons he had as a member of the Denver Broncos statistically but really has a chance to do it this year after the start he has had.  Cutler has taken another step forward playing for Marc Trestman and will continue to do so with the emergence of Alshon Jeffery to take pressure off Brandon Marshall and give him another weapon.

10.  Russell Wilson- Wilson shocked just about everyone by beating out Matt Flynn last season to earn the starting job for the Seahawks and proved that Pete Carroll really knows what he is doing.  This year everyone knows who Wilson is and he is still carrying the Seahawks.  If he continues to play like he has to start the season, Wilson will move up this list very quickly.

9.  Andrew Luck- Luck put up huge numbers as a rookie and is doing even better this year.  The Colts have had some huge victories early in the season thanks to Luck and his ability to make plays.  Thanks to talented wide receivers like T.Y. Hilton and Reggie Wayne as well as the acquisition of running back Trent Richardson, Look for Luck to lead the Colts deep into the playoffs if he continues to play like he is right now.

  1. I truly believe, the quick-learner, Russell Wilson, along with Seattle’s talented offensive, great defense & special teams, and their new, inspired coach, Carroll, will be journeying to this season’s Super Bowl

    1. The New York Giants (other than the defensive front line) as well as their quarterback, stink this year, at key moments in each game they have played, so far.
If Flacco is a little more consistent in his proficient play making, he soon will be rated higher, but, I still feel, despite the loss of some of the Ravens key players, they still have the basic overall skill factors to get the team into the playoffs, and, then, one never knows what can happen, game in and game out.
