Kyle Van Noy earned a huge NFL honor on Wednesday thanks to his remarkable play in a 16-10 win over the Buffalo Bills. The former BYU star linebacker was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week after recording eight tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles and a massive hit on Matt Barkley that led to the game-clinching interception.
Through four games for the undefeated Patriots, Van Noy has recorded 12 tackles, two and a half sacks, and two forced fumbles.
Davies shines in huge Spanish League matchup
Brandon Davies has already made a massive impact during his first two games in Spain’s top league, the ACB.
Following an 11-point, 9-rebound effort in a six-point win over Obradoiro in 17 minutes of the bench, the former BYU big man was inserted in the starting lineup for Game 2, and the move paid off.
In a 95-87 win over Baskonia, Davies registered a game-high 24 points on 8-for-14 shooting from the field, including 2-for-3 from 3-point land and 6-for-7 from the foul line. He was also a beast on the glass with a team-best 11 rebounds (five on the offensive end), three steals, a block, and an assist in 33 minutes on the court.

Through two games in Spain, Davies is averaging 17.5 points on 55 percent shooting from the field, 66.7 percent from 3-point land and 84.6 percent at the free-throw line. He is also averaging 10 rebounds (five on the offensive end), 2.5 steals, 1.5 assists and 1.0 blocks in 25 minutes.
Davies will be back on the court on with his teammates on Friday as Barcelona opens up EuroLeague play against Anadolu Efes Istanbul.
Bryant comes up big in Winner Cup final
Like Davies, Elijah Bryant has been a key piece on his new team so far this season. He had his best scoring performance so far in an 84-83 loss to Hapoel Jerusalem in the Winner Cup championship game. In the tough loss, Bryant finished with a team-best 18 points on the strength of a 6-for-9 shooting day from the floor including 2-for-3 from deep and 4-for-4 from the charity stripe. He added seven rebounds, and an assist in 29 minutes on the floor.

Fredette named to the all-decade team
Sports Illustrated released its all-decade team for college basketball and BYU legend, Jimmer Fredette earned second-team honors. The former Cougar standout landed on the team with Wisconsin’s Frank Kaminsky, Jahlil Okafor of Duke, Villanova guard Jalen Brunson and Ohio State inside force Jared Sullinger.

In other former player news, LJ Rose had a strong showing in his first regular-season game in Finland in an 87-78 win for his Pyrinto team over Korihait. In the victory, the former Cougar lead guard totaled 14 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and three steals in 32 minutes.
