Jimmer Fredette and the Shanghai Sharks bounced back from a tough loss on Wednesday as they hammered the Zhejiang Golden Bulls, 97-64 on Thursday.
Fredette led a balanced offensive attack in the win, totaling a game-best 19 points on 70 percent shooting from the field, including 4-for-6 from beyond the arc. He also handed out five assists and collected three rebounds in 28:50 on the court. The former BYU guard had plenty of help as Dong Qilin managed 12 points and five boards while Luis Scola chipped in with 10 points, a game-high 14 rebounds and four assists.
Missouri Product, Marcus Denmon paced the Golden Bulls in the one-sided loss, finishing with 18 points and five rebounds while former Maryland big man Robert Carter added 13 points and eight boards.
Fredette and the Sharks have at least one more preseason game to prep for their trip to Houston to take on James Harden, Chris Paul and the Rockets on Tuesday.
Mika gets first EuroCup experience
Eric Mika got his first taste of a big-time European competition on Wednesday as Basket Brescia Leonessa had its first EuroCup game of the season. And while he made the start in the opening round game, he saw only limited minutes with foul trouble in an 80-68 loss against French League power Monaco.
The former BYU big man finished the night with four points on 2-for-3 shooting from the floor while securing a pair of rebounds in 11 minutes of work.
Mika will get another shot to show off what he can do in EuroCup Group A action next Wednesday against Spanish club Andorra who is led by former Oregon guard Dylan Ennis.
Mika and Brescia won’t have to wait that long to play though as they start off Italian Serie A competition on Sunday with a match-up against Pallacanestro Varese.
Regular season games start this weekend for Bryant, Haws and Tavernari
After a month of preparation that included plenty of exhibition and tournament games, it’s finally time for many of the former Cougars to start their regular seasons on the hardwood.
Tyler Haws gets his season started on Friday as he and C.B. Penas Huesca face off with former San Diego star Johnny Dee and his Real Betis club.
Haws and a teammate took to the team’s Twitter page to announce the game and invite fans to come out and support them.
Elijah Bryant and Hapoel Eilat start their Israel Winner League season on Saturday with a tough game against Hapoel Tel-Aviv BC. Bryant was even the face of the team’s post about the game on Twitter.

As for Jonathan Tavernari, he and Pallacanestro Cantu start Italian Serie A League play on Sunday against Scandone Avellino.
Do you know if the Jimmer game against the rockets can be watched or streamed somewhere?
