Jimmer leads Team Fredette to the Super 16 in the TBT (video)

A trio of former Westchester Knicks carried the scoring load as Team Fredette advanced to the Super 16 with a 99-89 win over the Jackson, TN Underdawgs on Sunday afternoon.

Jimmer Fredette led the way, totaling a game-high 30 points on 9-for-22 from the field and a perfect 11-for-11 from the foul line. He also chipped in with six rebounds, five assists and a steal while playing 35 minutes.

After scoring just six points through the first 17 minutes, Fredette got his offensive game on track with a pair of huge late second quarter buckets. The first came when he put the ball on the floor and got to the basket and finished through contact. He converted on the free-throw to open up a six-point lead.

Fredette was at it again moments later when he drilled a difficult step-back three to close the first-half scoring.

Jimmer added 18 more points in the second half including 14 in the third quarter as Team Fredette opened up a 12-point lead heading into the final quarter.

Fredette also got plenty of help from a pair of former teammates from his year in the D-League (now G-League), Ra’Shad James and Jordon Crawford. James came off the bench to score 17 points, including a pair of free-throws to seal the win, while Crawford chipped in with 12 points a game-high eight assists and a pair of steals.

Brandon Davies also came through with some strong play in limited action for Team Fredette, finishing with 13 points on 5-for-6 shooting from the field and 3-for-4 from the charity stripe. He also contributed three blocks, two steals and a pair of rebounds in just 14 minutes for work.

His best play of the game came midway through the second quarter when he caught a pass on the baseline and put the ball on the floor before finishing with the emphatic dunk.

Charles Abouo started for Team Fredette for the second straight game and totaled four points, three rebounds and an assist.

Jeremy Weddle led the way for the Underdawgs with 19 points off the bench in 19 minutes while Jaylen Barford added 12 points. The Jackson, TN squad also got double-figure scoring effort from Tarius Johnson and Josh Sain who finished with 11 points a piece and Torye Pelham who managed 10 points and seven rebounds in 16 minutes of work.

Team Fredette will next be in action on Friday against the winner of the game between the No. 14 seeded Illinois BC and the No. 6 seed Fort Wayne Champs.
