Watch: Brandon Davies delivers best LKL Finals performance EVER to help Zalgiris win the championship

Brandon Davies saved his best game for last as he carried Zalgiris Kaunas to an 80-70 win over Lietuvos Rytas to clinch the LKL championship.

Davies was the game’s best performer by far in the game 5 win to clinch the title. In fact, according to the BC Zalgiris Kaunas Twitter page, the former BYU big man had the best individual performance by a player in the LKL Finals ever!

Davies finished the night with a season-high 29 points on the strength of 9-for-13 shooting from the field and 11-for-14 from the foul line. He also chipped in with eight rebounds (three on the offensive end), three assists and three steals in 32:39.

The LKL TV YouTube channel shared highlights of the game.

BasketNews.LT’s YouTube channel caught up with Davies after the game to get his thoughts on the big showing.

It was a fitting end to a terrific late season run for Davies who continually put up monster numbers in the biggest games through the LKL and EuroLeague playoffs.

In the 4-1 LKL Finals series win, Davies averaged 20.6 points on an astounding 70 percent shooting from the field and 82.5 percent from the foul line. He added 5.6 rebounds and 1.8 steals in 23.6 minutes.

Zalgiris Kaunas head coach, Sarunas Jasikevicius had plenty of great things to say about Davies in the post game press conference.

“Brandon’s talent is huge. Last year, he played a huge number in Monaco, even three-pointers, indicating that he has a huge arsenal. We even reduce Brandon’s arsenal for the good of the team, and the arsenal of skills is huge. His foot work is something fantastic. See how he plays soccer. Maybe he should now be somewhere in Russia. I think he will have every opportunity to go a lot further,” said Jasikevicius, according to an article translated from the LKL website.

It was an impressive year for Davies and Zalgiris from start to finish. They won 45 of 50 games against Lithuanian competition while securing the best regular-season record and taking home the King Mindaugas Cup, before closing out the season with the league title.

They also had an unforgettable season in EuroLeague action as they advanced to the Final Four the first time this century where they took home third place in European basketball’s toughest competition.

Davies also starred there as he finished out the regular season with back-to-back season highs in scoring during the last two games of the campaign. He then added three huge performances as Zalgiris knocked off Olympiacos Piraeus to earn their spot as one of the top four teams in Europe.

The Provo High School grad also showed well at the Final Four as he registered a huge double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds in a hard-fought semifinal loss to Fenerbahce Dogus Istanbul.

That string of big games also led to some huge recognition as Davies earned the EuroLeague Player of the Month for April.

Not bad for his first season playing in the LKL and the EuroLeague.
