Kyle Collinsworth had a terrific performance on Saturday night in a 91-89 Mavericks’ loss to the Denver Nuggets.

The former BYU guard set a new career-high with seven points on 3-for-3 shooting from the floor, including a make on his only attempt from beyond the arc. He added five rebounds, two assists and a steal and was a team-best +16 in 14 minutes of work.

His exceptional play caught the eyes of plenty of Mavericks’ writers and on fans social media.

Collinsworth made an impact from the moment he stepped on the floor in the first quarter. He knocked down a short jumper on his first possession and then found Harrison Barnes for an open three on the next.

Two minutes later, he picked Jamal Murray’s pocket and finished at the other end as the Mavericks cut a 12-point deficit to five.

His only other basket of the night came in the third quarter when he drilled his second 3-point shot of the season to give Dallas a three-point lead.

Since joining the rotation four games ago, he is averaging 4.0 points on 70 percent shooting from the floor with 5.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals in 15.8 minutes.

Fredette wins Player of the Week

Jimmer Fredette earned the Player of the Week for Round 31 after his huge double-double led the Sharks to an 18-point win over the Zhejiang Golden Bulls on Friday. Fredette totaled 47 points on 20-for-38 shooting from the floor. He added 12 rebounds, seven assists and five steals in 43 minutes.

Through 32 games, Fredette is averaging 37.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 2.0 steals in 41.1 minutes.

Mika plays well in tough loss

Eric Mika had one of his better showings of the season on Saturday as his VL Pesaro team dropped a 104-96 decision to Grissin Bon Reggio Emilia.

The Former BYU big man finished with 18 points on 5-for-9 shooting from the field and 8-for-10 from the foul line. He added five rebounds, two assists and a steal in 31 minutes.

On the season, Mika is averaging 14.1 points on 51.1 percent shooting from inside the arc with 7.1 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 1.0 assists in 17 games.

Carlino stars in win

Carlino had an impressive all-around showing on Sunday as his Roseto Sharks beat Agribertocchi Orzinuovi 85-69. He finished with 20 points, six rebounds, four assists and a steal in 29 minutes of work as the Sharks won their third game of the year.

Through nine games, Carlino is averaging 21 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.7 steals in 31.3 minutes.

Tavernari catches fire from deep in win

Tavernari is finally starting to see minutes on the floor with Dinamo Sassari and has delivered with some very strong play.

In Saturday’s 92-80 win over Fiat Torino, the sharpshooter scored a season-high 15 points while connecting of 5 of 7 shots from beyond the arc. He added a pair of rebounds and a steal in 20 minutes.

In six Italian League games, Tavernari is averaging 5.7 points on 62.5 percent shooting from 3-point range with 1.0 rebounds in 8.5 minutes.

Abouo shines in another win

Charles Abouo has been playing fantastic basketball of late and Friday was no different as Fos-Provence beat Orleans 81-74.

Abouo was easily the most efficient player of the game as he totaled 18 points on 50 percent shooting from the floor to go along with 10 rebounds, five steals and two assists in 33 minutes off the bench.

In 16 ProB games, he is averaging 12.7 points on 46.1 percent shooting with 4.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.8 steals in 28 minutes.

Davies delivers in the LKL

Brandon Davies had one of his best games in a while as Zalgiris Kaunas beat Pieno Zvaigzdes 91-80 on Sunday.

Davies recorded 11 points, including seven in the first quarter, on 4-for-5 shooting from the floor and 3-for-3 from the foul line. He also contributed five rebounds, two assists and a block in 15:46.

In 21 Lithuanian League contests, he is averaging 8.0 points on 56.9 percent shooting while adding 5.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 15:08.
