The Jimmer Fredette tracker, game 22: Fredette has monster game against the Southern Tigers

Jimmer Fredette had  a massive all-around performance as the Shanghai Sharks fell to the Guangdong Southern Tigers 104-97 on Friday.

Fredette finished with 37 points on 12-for-26 shooting from the floor, including 5-for-14 from beyond the arc and a perfect 8-for-8 from the foul line. He added team highs with eight assists, seven rebounds and three steals in 38 minutes.

Nick Minnerath chipped in with 33 points on 50 percent shooting from the field and 6-for-6 from the foul line, but it wasn’t enough to overcome big games from Jianlian Yi and Edwin Jackson.

Yi totaled 37 points of his own on 12-for-20 shooting from the floor to go along with a game-high 15 rebounds while Jackson managed 29 points in 48 minutes.

The Sharks found themselves in an early hole trailing be 12 after the first quarter before they found their rhythm on the offensive end and making it a game. They outscored the Southern Tigers by 13 in the second to take a one-point lead into halftime.

The Southern Tigers regained their advantage in the third with a 39-point quarter before holding on in the fourth for the seven-point win.

The only other player to reach double figures in scoring for the Shanghai in the defeat was Hanchen Luo who managed 10 points while adding six boards.

With the loss, the Sharks drop to 10-12 on the season and face an up hill battle as they try to make a return to the playoffs. If they are to make a run at the playoffs, Fredette and Minnerath will need some help in the scoring department.

On the season, Fredette is averaging 37.5 points on 44 percent shooting from inside the arc, 43 percent from 3-point range and 96 percent from the foul line. He also chips in with 7.0 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 2.1 steals in 40.6 minutes.

Up next for Fredette and the Sharks is a pivotal game with the Shanxi Brave Dragons who are 8-13 on the season.

The Brave Dragons are led by Luis Scola and Willie Warren. Scola is averaging 27.6 points a night along with 14.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists while Warren puts up 23 points, 4.9 assists and 4.8 rebounds.

It is the second meeting of the season between the two teams with the Sharks taking home a 128-121 win in the first matchup. Fredette had a huge night in the win with 47 points on 9-for-17 shooting from distance while adding five assists and four rebounds.
