Cody Hoffman was back on the field for the Ottawa Redblacks for the second week in a row and made a pair of nice plays in a 33-30 loss to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
While he totaled just two catches for 30 yards in the loss, both of his catches resulted in first downs for the Redblacks. His first reception came in the first drive of the game with a nine-yard gain on 2nd-and-7. The catch kept the chains moving on a drive that was capped off by a touchdown.
His only other grab of the night came in the fourth quarter when he picked up 21 yards on a 2nd-and-10 to extend the drive. It was a possession that also resulted in an Ottawa touchdown.
In two games with Ottawa, Hoffman has totaled three catches for 37 yards.
Brennon Lund, Taylor Cole get called up
After a really strong showing with Inland Empire, Brennon Lund earned his second call-up of the year.
He is now playing for the Double-A Mobile BayBears in the Southern League where he has continued to play well. One of his best games since heading to Mobile came in an 8-3 win over the Montgomery Biscuits when he went 2-for-4 with a run batted in while batting in the leadoff spot.
In four games with the BayBears, he is hitting .400 with six hits, three runs scored and an RBI.
Taylor Cole is also on the move, for the fourth time in a month, as he has been promoted to the Toronto Blue Jays.
Cole made four very good appearances with Triple-A Buffalo before the call as he struck out seven while working 5.2 innings of hitless ball.
On the court
Jen Hamson has played a pair of games since she signed for the rest of the season with the Indiana Fever, but has seen limited minutes in both contests. She went scoreless in three minutes in a loss to the Chicago Sky before totaling a rebound and a steal in four minutes in a stunning win over the Minnesota Lynx.
In seven games, she is averaging 2.9 points on 61.5 percent shooting with 2.3 rebounds and nearly a block in 7.4 minutes.
On the gridiron
Jamaal Williams is doing his best to find a role with the Green Bay Packers, and his mother is right there supporting him, like she did at BYU.
She shared a photo of the two of them with Taysom Hill who is also with the Packers.
Another former BYU running back is also in the news as Algernon Brown has found a new home. Shortly after he was let go by the Seattle Seahawks, Brown has signed a deal to play with the New York Jets.
As always, thanks for keeping us up to date!
