In just his third game back from a month-long absence with an ankle injury, former BYU guard Kyle Collinsworth returned to form as he put up one of his best games of the season as the Texas Legends beat up the Iowa Energy 148-105 in the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa on Wednesday night.

Collinsworth finished with nine points on 3 for 7 shooting from the floor and 3 for 4 from the free-throw line. He also added a game-high 14 rebounds, seven assists, four steals and two blocks in 27 minutes.

He got first basket of the night in the second quarter when he put the ball on the floor and got to the paint for a tough floater. He followed that up just seconds later with a nifty assist as he threw a behind-the-back pass to a wide open Warney for a free-throw line jumper. He got back on the board minutes later when he attacked the basket and finished in traffic for his second field goal. His last basket of the night came on a lay up after he grabbed an offensive board.

He had plenty of help as five Legends’ players scored in double figures led by Andre Dawkins who totaled 37 points on 12 for 17 shooting from beyond the arc in 24 minutes off the bench. Jameel Warney also reached the 30-point mark on 12 for 18 shooting from the floor and 6 for 6 from the foul line.

Texas also got double-doubles out of Pierre Jackson who put up 19 points and 11 assists while Stephane Lasme chipped in with 14 points and 10 boards.

Jarell Martin paced the Energy in the loss with 25 points and 14 rebounds in 36 minutes before fouling out. Memphis Grizzlies’ first-round pick Wade Baldwin IV also had a solid statistical night as he recorded 22 points on 4 for 5 shooting from 3-point range to go long with six assists and five rebounds in 31 minutes.

For the season, Collinsworth has played in 32 games where he is averaging 6.5 points on 44.6 percent shooting from the floor while adding 7.5 rebounds (2.9 on the offensive end), 4.0 assists and 1.9 steals in 28 minutes. Those numbers are good enough to place him at No. 9 in the league in steals, No. 10 in offensive rebounds, No. 20 in assists and No. 23 in rebounds.
