Jimmer Fredette tracker, CBA game 32: Fredette puts up huge double-double in win

Jimmer Fredette had a big scoring night and was huge on the defensive glass as the Shanghai Sharks returned to action with a 115-109 win over the Qingdao Eagles on Sunday night.

Fredette led the way for the Sharks with 37 points on 11 for 25 shooting from the floor and 13 for 13 from the free-throw line. He added a game-high 14 rebounds, including 13 on the defensive end to go along with three assists and a steal in 39:43.

Guerschon Yabusele added 24 points on 8 for 15 shooting from the floor as well as eight rebounds while Liu XiaoYu chipped in with 17 points, six assists and three rebounds before he fouled out late in the game.

While the Sharks didn’t have a great shooting night from the floor – they hit 35 of 83 shots, including 13 of 35 from distance – they got the job done at the foul line as they connected on 32 of 39 attempts to come away with the win.

Zhang ZhaoXu also had a productive night for Shanghai as he registered a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds while Lu Wei managed 12 points on 3 for 4 shooting from beyond the arc.

Dominique Jones paced the Eagles in scoring with 28 points on 10 for 24 shooting from the field while adding 10 rebounds and eight assists. Zhang Chengyu added 18 points, three assists and two rebounds off the bench while Su Wei recorded 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Loukas Mavrokefalidis contributed a double-double of his own with 12 points and 13 rebounds while adding three steals as the Eagles dropped to 15-17 on the season.

On the season, Fredette is averaging a league-best 37 points on 48.8 percent shooting from the field, including 40.6 percent from beyond the arc and 92.9 percent from the foul line. He also contributes 8.4 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.8 steals in 39.4 minutes.

Up next for Fredette and the Sharks is a match-up with the Bayi Rockets on Wednesday. The Rockets are 6-26 on the season after a 96-77 loss to the Liaoning Flying Leopards.

A player to watch for the Rockets is Zou Yuchen who is averaging 16.2 points and 8.7 rebounds. Another big contributor is Han Shuo who is averaging 13 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.5 steals in 29 minutes a night.
