The Shanghai Sharks used a huge third quarter to knock off the Xinjiang Flying Tigers 122-97 on Wednesday night. Holding onto a nine-point halftime lead, the Sharks outscored the Flying Tigers 35-15 in the third to blow the game wide open as they improved to 11-1 on the season.
In the blowout win, Jimmer Fredette finished with 27 points on 11 for 24 shooting from the floor, including 3 for 6 from beyond the arc and 2 for 2 from the free-throw line. He added eight rebounds, five assists and a steal in 35:55 of action. It was the first time since the CBA season started that he wasn’t the team’s leading scorer.
Liu XiaoYu took that honor in the blowout win finishing with 31 points on 13 for 21 shooting from the floor, including 4 for 8 from distance while adding five assists and three steals.
Guerschon Yabusele also had a huge night in the win with 26 points on 10 for 15 shooting from the floor to go along with 14 rebounds.
Darius Adams led the way for the Flying Tigers in the loss with 37 points, but made just 13 of 33 attempts from the floor, including 4 of 16 3-point attempts. Zhou Qi added 16 points and 14 rebounds as Xinjiang dropped to 9-3 on the year.
On the season, Fredette is averaging 38.3 points on 50 percent shooting from the floor, including 42 percent from beyond the arc and 91.5 percent from the foul line. He also chips in with 8.2 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 2.4 steals.
Up next for Fredette and the Sharks is a Friday matchup with the Qingdao Eagles. The Eagles are 5-7 on the season after a 111-110 loss to Liaoning on Wednesday.
They are led by Dominique Jones who is averaging 31 points, 8.2 rebounds and 4.7 assists. Another familiar face on the roster is Jerrelle Benimon who chips in with 18.9 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists.
