Kevin Duffy of Mass Live looked at the play of former BYU Cougar Kyle Van Noy in his first game with the New England Patriots.
Duffy writes, “On Sunday against the 49ers, in Van Noy’s debut with the team, the 6-foot-3, 243-pound linebacker came up with one of the team’s five sacks. He was a consistent presence on the edge, recording a pressure in addition to the sack of Colin Kaepernick. The team stayed in nickel for most of the game, and Van Noy often subbed for McClellin on third downs.”
Duffy then quotes Bill Belichick talking about the play of Van Noy, saying, “Yeah, it looked like he helped us a little bit. We’ll see how it goes on the film, but he has some versatility for us — can rush, cover.”
