Jimmer Fredette tracker, CBA game 1: Fredette puts up monster numbers in big win

Jimmer Fredette started out the CBA regular season with a bang as he led the Shanghai Sharks to a 123-105 win over the Zhejiang Golden Bulls on Sunday afternoon.

Fredette led all scorers in the game with 42 points on 17 for 25 shooting from the floor, including 5 for 8 from beyond the arc and 3 for 3 from the foul line. He added three steals, two rebounds and an assist in 39:48 of action.

The Sharks got off to a slow start, trailing 24-20 at the end of the first quarter before turning up the offense. They managed to outscore the Golden Bulls 33-23 in the second quarter before putting the game out of reach in the third with a 39-point outburst.

Fredette had plenty of help as first-year Shanghai big man and Boston Celtics’ first round pick Guerschon Yabusele added 29 points on 10 for 19 shooting from the floor, including 5 for 11 from 3-point range to go along with 11 rebounds in 30:40.

The Sharks also got a double-double out of Zhang Zhaoxu who totaled 10 points and 12 rebounds.

The Golden Bulls were led by former Oklahoma Sooners’ guard Willie Warren who managed 33 points on 10 for 28 shooting from the field and 12 for 14 from the free-throw line. He added a team-high seven rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals in 43:49.

Former San Antonio Spurs’ second round pick Cady Lalanne added 16 points and three rebounds for Zhejiang.

Up next for Fredette and the Sharks is a Wednesday night match-up with the Jiangsu Tongxi Monkey Kings.

The Monkey Kings are 0-1 on the season after a 115-100 loss to Liaoning.

Two players to watch for Jiangsu Tongxi are four-year NBA veteran Jared Cunningham who registered 31 points while getting to the free-throw line 24 times in the loss.

The other import player for the Monkey Kings is former San Antonio Spurs’ forward DeJuan Blair who chipped in with 31 points on 15 for 24 shooting from the floor and a team-high 10 rebounds in 32:27.

    1. I haven’t looked to see if there have been any highlight packages done for the games yet. I usually write the stories right after the games and those highlights are not done until hours later. I just need to add them if they become available.
