The Cougar NBA tracker, Brandon Davies: Summer league, game 10

The San Antonio Spurs escaped with a thrilling 95-93 victory over the Boston Celtics to advance in the summer league tournament on Saturday in Las Vegas, Nevada.

After Terry Rozier knocked down a contested 3-point shot to tie the game at 93 with 2.5 seconds to go, Shannon Scott came to the rescue. He hit a runner as time expired from just inside the 3-point line to propel San Antonio to the huge win.

Kyle Anderson and Jonathan Simmons carried the load on the offensive end for the Spurs. Anderson had 21 points on 50 percent shooting from the floor with five rebounds while Simmons totaled 19 points on 7-for-11 shooting from the field and 5-for-6 from the free-throw line.

Jarrell Eddie also had a big performance for San Antonio. He finished with 18 points on 4-for-7 shooting from the floor, including 3-for-5 from 3-point range and 7-for-7 from the charity stripe to go along with five rebounds and a block.

Scott added seven points, seven rebounds and two assists while Cady Lalanne chipped in with seven points on 50 percent shooting with seven rebounds, two assists and two blocks.

R.J. Hunter and Jordan Mickey did most of the damage for the Celtics in their first loss in Las Vegas. Hunter had a game-high 22 points on 50 percent shooting from the floor with five rebounds while Mickey registered 18 points on 7-for-12 shooting from the field with five rebounds and three blocks.

James Young also made some big plays for Boston in the defeat. He had 16 points on 5-for-14 shooting from the floor and 4-for-5 from the free-throw line with a game-high nine rebounds and three assists.

Brandon Davies had a solid all-around outing in the win over the Celtics. He finished with six points on 1-for-4 shooting from the floor, including 1-for-2 from beyond the arc and 3-for-4 from the free-throw line. He added five rebounds, including a team-high three on the offensive end to go along with a steal and a block in 19:11.

Davies did all of his scoring in the first half. He hit two free-throws in the first quarter and then added a 3-point shot and another free-throw early in the second.

Up next for Davies and the Spurs is a Sunday night matchup with the Atlanta Hawks in the semi-finals of the Las Vegas summer league.
