The Cougar NBA tracker, Brandon Davies: Summer league, game 3

Russ Smith and Jordan Adams led the way as the Memphis Grizzlies outlasted the Orlando Blue 73-71 in double-overtime in Orlando on Tuesday afternoon.

Orlando had a hard time stopping the Memphis guards without the services of Elfrid Payton who was given the day off. Smith came of the bench with 20 points on 9-for-12 shooting from the floor, including 2-for-3 from beyond the arc. He added three assists, three rebounds and a pair of steals.

Although he struggled with his shot, Adams also put up solid numbers in the win. He finished with 15 points on 5-for-17 shooting to go along with five rebounds, four steals and two assists.

The Grizzlies also got nice outings from Tony Crocker and Jarnell Stokes. Crocker recorded 12 points, three rebounds and three assists while Stokes chipped in with nine points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Aaron Gordon led the way for Orlando once again. He totaled 22 points on 8-for-19 shooting from the floor, including 3-for-5 from beyond the 3-point arc and 3-for-3 from the free-throw line. He added seven rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Peyton Siva ran the show for the Blue in place of Payton and had seven points, seven assists, four rebounds and two steals. Drew Crawford added nine points on 3-for-6 shooting from the floor with four rebounds and two steals while Devyn Marble chipped in with eight points and three boards.

Brandon Davies was moved to the bench for game three and had another difficult outing. While he cleaned up his turnover issues from the first two games, he was also far less aggressive on the offensive end. He went scoreless on just one shot attempt, but did have a rebound and an assist in 13:28. He got into foul trouble once again committing five in his limited minutes.

Up next for Davies and the Orlando Blue is a Thursday matchup with the Indiana Pacers. The Pacers are 0-2 so far in Orlando after an 85-76 loss to Orlando White on Monday and a 92-76 setback against the Miami Heat on Saturday.

Some notable names for Indiana are Myles Turner, Solomon Hill and Shayne Whittingham. Turner has been the most dominant of the three in the first two games. He is averaging 16.5 points on 63.6 percent shooting from the floor to go along with 8.5 rebounds and 4.5 blocks. Hill has chipped in with 6.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists while Whittingham is averaging 12 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists.
