The New Orleans Pelicans didn’t have any answers for the point guards of Washington as the Wizards came away with a 92-85 win on Monday night.
John Wall led the way for Washington with 15 points, 12 assists and four steals while Andre Miller added 12 points on 5 of 5 shooting from the floor. Paul Pierce added 14 points on 6 of 8 shooting, including 2 of 2 from behind the arc. Marcin Gortat and Kris Humphries chipped in with 10 points and five rebounds a piece.
Anthony Davis and Tyreke Evans paced the Pelicans in the loss. Davis finished with 21 points on 9 of 12 shooting from the field to go along with 10 rebounds while Evans registered 21 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three blocks. Jrue Holiday totaled 13 points on 6 of 16 shooting as well as five assists and four steals while Ryan Anderson chipped in with 14 points on 3 of 5 shooting from distance. Eric Gordon chipped in with six points on 2 of 8 shooting, including 0 of 4 from 3-point land with five assists and four rebounds in nearly 33 minutes of action.
Jimmer Fredette saw very limited minutes thanks to the return of Gordon from injury. Fredette played just 6:05 in the second quarter and went scoreless. He was 0 of 2 shooting, including a miss on his only 3-point attempt, but managed to grab a rebound.
Up next for Fredette and the Pelicans is a trip to face the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday.
