The Brooklyn Nets overcame a huge performance from Ty Lawson to knock off the Denver Nuggets 102-96 on Tuesday night.
Joe Johnson led the way for the Deron Williams – less Nets with 27 points on 11 of 19 shooting from the floor. Mason Plumlee and Jarrett Jack also made huge contributions as the Nets improved to 12-15 on the season. Plumlee finished with 19 points on 9 of 14 shooting to go along with 13 rebounds, three blocks, two assists and two steals while Jack added 17 points on 7 of 13 shooting as well as eight assists. Sergey Karasev added 12 points, five rebounds and three assists.
Lawson managed 29 points on the strength of a 4 of 8 shooting night from behind the 3-point line as well as nine assists and for rebounds. Kenneth Fried also had a nice showing with 20 points on 8 of 11 shooting from the field to go along with 14 rebounds. Arron Afflalo 11 points and nine boards while Wilson Chandler chipped in with 11 points and five rebounds.
Brandon Davies played 2:22 during the first and second quarter and totaled two points on 1 of 3 shooting and a rebound. His basket came on a putback after he corralled and offensive board.
Up next for Davies and the Nets is a matchup with the Boston Celtics on Friday.
