Anthony Davis showed why he is one of the best players in the game today as the New Orleans Pelicans knocked off the Houston Rockets 99-90 on Thursday night.
Davis did it all as the Pelicans improved to 13-12 on the season. He finished with 30 points on 10 of 17 shooting from the floor and 10 of 12 from the free-throw line. He also contributed 14 rebounds, five blocks, three assists and a pair of steals. He had plenty of help as well. Jrue Holiday had 16 points, 10 assists, two steals and two blocks. Ryan Anderson and Dante Cunningham also played well off the bench. Anderson had 16 points on 6 of 11 shooting and six rebounds while Cunningham added 15 points on 6 of 10 shooting.
James Harden paced the Rockets with 21 points as well as seven rebounds and five assists, but made just 8 of 23 shots from the floor and had four turnovers. Dwight Howard registered 17 points and 13 rebounds while Trevor Ariza added 10 points, eight rebounds and four steals.
Jimmer Fredette played 3:12 in the fourth quarter but went scoreless after missing his only shot attempt. He did have a defensive rebound and was a +7 while on the floor.
Up next for Fredette and the Pelicans is a Saturday night matchup with the Portland Trail Blazers.
