The New Orleans Pelicans improved to 10-10 on the young season with a 104-93 win over the hapless New York Knicks on Tuesday night.
Tyreke Evan led the way for New Orleans with 27 points on 11 of 15 shooting from the floor to go along with six assists, four rebounds and two steals. The Pelicans also got a monster night from Omer Asik who finished with 16 points on 7 of 10 shooting as well as 14 rebounds and two blocks. Anthony Davis and Jrue Holiday made nice contributions as well. Davies finished with 18 points, eight rebounds and three blocks while Holiday added 13 points, seven assists, six rebounds and a pair of steals.
Amar’e Stoudemire carried the load for New York with 26 points on 11 of 18 shooting. He added five rebounds and a game-high five blocked shots. Carmelo Anthony added 17 points and eight rebounds, while J.R. Smith chipped in with 17 points, five assists and four rebounds.
Jimmer Fredette did not play for the Pelicans in the win. On the season, he has played in 12 of 20 games and is averaging 1.7 points and nearly an assist a night.
Up next for Fredette and the Pelicans is a trip to face the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night.
