Fredette had a tough shooting night in his first regular season appearance for New Orleans as the Pelicans drilled the Orlando Magic 101-84 on the opening night of the season.
The Pelicans were led by a trio of big men who dominated the paint on both ends of the floor. Anthony Davis paced the three with 26 points, 17 rebounds, nine blocks, three steals and two assists. Omer Asik also was big on the glass with 17 boards to go along with 14 points and five blocks. Ryan Anderson also had a nice outing with 22 points and nine rebounds off the bench.
The Magic were led in the loss by Tobias Harris and Nikola Vucevic. Harris totaled 25 points and eight rebounds while Vucevic added 15 points and a game-high 23 boards.
In the win, Fredette played 18 minutes, but finished with just two points, on 0 of 6 shooting from the floor, including 0 for 3 from the 3-point line. On the plus side, he made both of his free-throw attempts while handing out a pair of assists and collecting one steal without any turnovers.
Up next for Fredette and the Pelicans is a matchup with the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday.
