Why is Oregon State Wide receiver Brandin Cooks not being mentioned in the Heisman race? Is an opening game loss to FCS power Eastern Washington the only reason?
I can’t think of any other reason because what cook has done on the field so far this season has been incredible. Cooks is the main target of one of the most talented passing offenses in college football so far this year. As the main target to Oregon State quarterback Sean Mannion, Cooks has registered 76 receptions for 1176 and 12 touchdowns in just seven games. Add in the fact that Cooks also has 18 carries for 116 Yards and two more scores. 1292 yards from scrimmage and 14 touchdowns are great numbers for a whole season let alone just seven games yet somehow he isn’t mention in any Heisman conversations. The award is not just for quarterbacks even though It has basically turned into that.
Voters and prognosticators need to remember that there are more players on a football field then the quarterback and they deserve plenty of recognition too.
