Jimmer Fredette had a solid night but it wasn’t enough as the Shanghai Sharks fell to the Beijing Ducks on Tuesday, 112-93.

The BYU legend finished with 21 points on 7-for-15 shooting from the field, including 3-for-7 from distance while missing his first free throw of the season (he was 4-for-5 from the foul line). Fredette also chipped in with six assists, four steals and a rebound in 37 minutes of work.

Lone Peak Product, Justin Hamilton paced the Ducks in the win, totaling 31 points on 12-for-15 shooting from the floor, including a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc to go along with six boards, three assists and two steals. He was helped by Aaron Jackson who totaled 18 points and 14 assists on a night where the Ducks shot lights out from 3-point land, connecting on 12 of 21 attempts.

Luis Scola had a nice night for the Sharks in the loss, registering 27 points on 11-for-23 shooting from the floor and 5-for-5 from the foul line. He added eight rebounds, three assists and a pair of blocks in 32 minutes.

Shanghai also got a good night from Cai Liang who recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds while adding four assists.

On the season, Fredette is seventh in the league in scoring averaging 33.8 points a night on 49.7 percent shooting from the floor, 44.3 percent from 3-point range and 98.3 percent from the charity stripe. He also chips in with 6.1 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 3.9 steals in 40.9 minutes.

Up next for Fredette and the Sharks is a Thursday match-up with Tianjin Gold Lions who have opened up the season by dropping six of their first eight contests.

Bryant carries Sharks to another win

Elijah Bryant and his Hapoel Mall Hayam Eilat Sharks had a much more favorable result on Monday as they held on for the 75-72 victory over Maccabi Rishon Lezion.

In the win, the former Cougar standout finished with a game-high 20 points on 8-for-17 shooting from the floor while connecting on 2 of 5 from beyond the arc. He also managed a team-high eight rebounds (four on the offensive end), three steals and an assist in 36 minutes on the floor.

Thanks to his fifth straight performance with at least 17 points, Bryant is now leading the Israel Winner League in scoring with 22 points a game on 56.8 percent shooting. He is also contributing 5.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.8 steals (12th in the league) in 36.6 minutes a night.

Up next for Bryant and the Sharks is a home game on Sunday against Ironi Hai Motors Nes Ziona who are 1-4 through the first five games.
