Elijah Bryant took to Twitter on Friday to show off his new beard and also slipped in some huge news about who he will be playing with during the NBA’s summer league.

The former BYU guard announced that he will be playing with Philadelphia who will take part in the Las Vegas Summer League. The 76ers open up their summer league schedule on Friday, July 6th when they take on the Boston Celtics. Philly follows that up with games against the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday and a matchup with the Washington Wizards on Monday.

Bryant is coming off a strong junior season where he averaged 18.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 34.7 minutes a game to earn First-Team All-WCC honors.

Charles Abouo shines in World Cup qualifier

Charles Abouo had a big game on Friday as Cote d’Ivoire beat Mozambique, 62-45, to improve to 2-2 in Group D in the first round of the African qualifiers for the World Cup.

Abouo led the way in the win with a game-high 16 points on 5-for-11 shooting from the floor and 5-for-6 from the foul line. He added three rebounds, three steals, two assists and a block to finish as the game’s top performer with a +17 efficiency.

Through four games, Abouo is eighth in the qualifier in scoring, averaging 15 points a game on 44 percent shooting. He’s also averaging 6.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.8 steals in 27.9 minutes.

L.J. Rose is also taking part in the qualifiers as part of the Bahamas who is in Group D of the Americas tournament.

In Thursday’s 84-74 loss to the Virgin Islands, Rose totaled three points, five assists, two rebounds and a pair of steals in 25:25.

Through three games, Rose is leading the tournament with 7.7 assists per game to go along with 6.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 29.1 minutes.

Ambrosino stars in season-opening win

While many of the former Cougars playing basketball around the world have finished up their seasons, Agustin Ambrosino is just starting in Bolivia. And he started it out in fine fashion as his team, Club Athletico Nacional de Oruro came away with a 78-76 win.

In the two-point victory, Ambrosino narrowly missed a double-double, finishing with 18 points and nine rebounds in 34:04 of work.
