Davies highlight video released

While his season isn’t over yet, Brandon Davies has already been featured in a YouTube highlight video that shows many of his best plays from his first season with Zalgiris. The AG8000 YouTube channel released the compilation of some of the great blocks, dunks and passes from Davies during EuroLeague action.

The three-minute video is a must watch for BYU basketball and/or Davies fans.

Davies was a key piece to Zalgiris Kaunas’ third place finish in Europe’s top basketball league. He averaged 9.3 points on 57.7 percent shooting with 3.5 rebounds in 17:25 a contest.

He bumped those numbers up to 17 points a game on 66.7 percent shooting from the floor in the playoffs to earn EuroLeague Player of the Month honors for April.

Davies delivers masterful performance in limited minutes as Zalgiris wins game 1

Davies delivered the game’s most effective performance as BC Zalgiris Kaunas came from behind to handle Lietkabelis, 93-69, in the first game of the best-of-5 second round series of the LKL playoffs.

The former BYU big man paced Zalgiris in both scoring and rebounding on Tuesday despite playing less than 20 minutes in the big win. He finished with 14 points on 5-for-6 shooting from the floor and a perfect 4-for-4 from the foul line. He added seven rebounds (two on the offensive end), along with a game-high two blocks and a pair of steals in 17:37.

The BC Zalgiris Kaunas YouTube channel shared video highlights from the win, including three dunks from Davies.

It was the second game in a row that Davies led Zalgiris in scoring in their playoff run. He also led Zalgiris on Friday in game 3 of the first round sweep over Nevezis, when he totaled 13 points on 4-for-6 shooting from the field and 5-for-6 from the free-throw line in just 13:51 of work.

In 38 LKL games, he is averaging 10.2 points on 61.1 percent shooting from the floor and 74.6 percent from the line. He also contributes 5.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 16:38.

Game 2 of the semifinal round between Zalgiris and Lietkabelis is on Thursday.

Warner ranked a top 10 49er newcomer

Kirk Larrabee of Scout.com ranked the top 10 newcomers for the San Francisco 49ers and former BYU stud linebacker, Fred Warner came in at No. 6.

Speaking of Warner, Larrabee wrote, “The 49ers’ third-round draft pick out of BYU is a natural choice to see early playing time given the questionable status of Reuben Foster and the health of Brock Coyle, who is coming off shoulder surgery.”

Former Seattle Seahawks’ star, Richard Sherman came in at No. 1 on the list.

  1. Brandon looks like he’s having fun, which is a huge deal for his overall well-being. A formidable inside presence, as well. Does he have any kind of outside game or ability to spread the floor? Not sure if an outside game is important to any NBA aspirations he may still have.

    1. From what I have seen, he is mostly being used in the pick-and-roll or with his back to the basket. He does have a solid face up game, but hardly ever shoots the 3-ball.
I do he think he has good enough form to expand his shooting range (and he may have already done so) but that’s not what he is asked to do with Zalgiris.
