Kyle Collinsworth was back on the floor on Friday night as the Dallas Mavericks got hammered by the Los Angeles Lakers 124-102.
The former BYU triple-double machine played the last 4:36 in the blowout loss where he went scoreless after missing his only two shot attempts. He did manage a rebound and an assist on Max Kleber layup. It was the first time in more than a month that Collinsworth didn’t play at least 10 minutes.
On the season, he is averaging 2.8 points on 48.6 percent shooting from the field with 2.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 16 games.
Brandon Davies had a really nice showing on Friday as Zalgiris Kaunas improved to 14-9 in EuroLeague action with an 86-70 win over Anadolu Efes Istanbul on Friday.
Davies finished second on the team in scoring with 12 points on 3-for-8 shooting from the floor and a perfect 6-for-6 from the foul line. He added a game-high four steals, four rebounds and two assists in 19:42 of work.
EuroLeague’s Twitter page shared highlights of the win, including a huge dunk from Davies early on.
Through 23 games, Davies is averaging 7.8 points on 58.6 percent shooting from he floor and 87.7 percent at the free-throw line. He also chips in with 3.1 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 15:10 a contest.
Frank Bartley IV continued his strong play on Thursday night as the Ragin’ Cajuns improved to 24-4 with an 81-76 win over Troy.
Bartley carried the offense for Louisiana with 22 points on 8-for-14 shooting from the field, including 3-for-4 from 3-point land and 3-for-4 from the charity stripe. He also managed four rebounds and three assists while playing 37 minutes.
It was his 10th 20-point game of the season and his fifth in his last six games. He now needs just 25 points to reach the 1,000 point mark at Louisiana.
On the season, Bartley is averaging a team-leading 17.4 points on 44 percent shooting from the field, 38.7 percent from the 3-point line and 86.3 percent at the foul line. He also manages 3.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.3 steals in 30.3 minutes a game.
Jake Toolson and Isaac Neilson made nice contributions for the Wolverines on Thursday nigh as UVU drilled CSU Bakersfield 70-47. Toolson finished with seven points, four assists, three rebounds and a pair of steals while Neilson added six points, seven rebounds and a block to help Utah Valley win its 20th game of the year. Cory Calvert also saw some time in the big win where he recorded a rebound in three minutes on the floor.
On the season, Toolson is averaging 12 points on 51.6 percent shooting with 4.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists. Neilson is averaging 5.7 points on 65.3 percent shooting with 5.0 rebounds while Calvert is putting up 1.5 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists.
Jamal Aytes saw his 12-game streak of scoring in double figures come to an end on Thursday night as the Thunderbirds fell to Portland State 96-91 in overtime.
Aytes managed seven points on 3-for-9 shooting from the field and 1-for-2 from the foul line. He added four rebounds and an assist in 16 minutes before fouling out.
Through 26 games, he is averaging 12.5 points on 56.8 percent shooting with 5.2 rebounds in 20.7 minutes.
