Now that the CBA season has come to an end – the Xinjiang Flying Tigers were crowned the league champs in a four-game sweep over Guangdong – Asia-Basket.com has released its All-Chinese CBA Awards for the 2016-17 season, and Jimmer Fredette absolutely cleaned up.

The former BYU guard was generously decorated for his outstanding play as he led the turnaround of the Shanghai Sharks from an also ran to one of the top teams in the league during his first season.

He took home three major honors as he was named Guard of the Year, Import Player of the Year and the overall Player of the Year.

All three honors were well deserved as Fredette carried the Sharks to 30-win regular season and a trip to the playoffs. Along the way, he put up masterful scoring displays, including four 50-point games and a 73-point night where he scored 22 straight points in overtime to keep the Sharks in the game.

For the regular season, Fredette averaged 37.3 points a game on 48.1 percent shooting from the floor, including 41.1 percent from beyond the arc and 92.8 percent from the foul line. He also chipped in with 7.9 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.7 steals in 39.3 minutes.

He bumped those numbers up to 40.3 points a night in the playoffs with 11.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.3 steals, but couldn’t propel the shorthanded Sharks past the first round.

Fredette was also one of three imports to earn First-Team All-CBA, along with Darius Adams and Andray Blatche. The other two players named to the First-Team were Yi Jianlian and Ding Yanyuhang.

In other Sharks related news, Guerschon Yabusele joined the D-League’s Maine Red Claws following the CBA season and has played very well. In two regular season appearances, he averaged 18.5 points on 64.7 percent shooting from the floor, including 66.7 percent from distance to go along with 10 rebounds in 26.8 minutes.
