Former Utes, Cougars and Aggies look to break into pro basketball in open tryout for Salt Lake City Stars

SALT LAKE CITYAlthough it’s well over a month until the Salt Lake City Stars take the floor for a regular-season D-League game, the coaching staff was already on the court Saturday morning working out hopeful training-camp invitees during an open tryout.

Among the 40-plus participants at Salt Lake Community College were a handful of a former Beehive State college players, including Demarcus Harrison and Chris Miles from BYU, as well as Utah State’s Trace Cureton. Also on the floor were former Utes Tim Drisdom, Aaron Dotson and Dakarai Tucker.

Dotson was familiar with the process after having made the Idaho Stampede team following an open tryout in 2014, while others weren’t so sure what would happen.
