The Cougar pro basketball tracker, Tyler Haws: Game 6

Tyler Haws had a tough outing as Rio Natura Monbus dropped a 67-57 decision to Barcelona on Sunday. With the loss, Rio Natura dropped to 3-3 on the season, including 0-3 on the road and placing them squarely in the middle of the pack in one of the best leagues in Europe.

They shot just 37.7 percent from the floor (23 of 61), including 11.1 percent from 3-point range (2 for 18). Barcelona didn’t shoot much better in the lowing scoring affair making 42.4 percent from the floor (25 for 59), including 21.7 percent from 3-point land (5 for 23).

Former Utah Jazz second round pick Ante Tomic led the way for Barcelona who improved to 6-0 with the win. He registered 18 points on 8 for 9 shooting from the floor with a game-high 11 rebounds, a steal and a block.

Alex Abrines also had a nice showing with 16 points on 6 for 10 shooting from the floor with three rebounds. Carlos Arroyo added four points and eight assists while Alexander Vezenkov chipped in with nine points on 50 percent shooting from beyond the arc with six rebounds and two blocks in 20 minutes.

Angelo Caloiaro led the way for Rio Natura Monbus with 14 points on 6 of 10 shooting from the floor to go along with five steals and four rebounds.

Artem Pustovyi and Santiago Yusta also had solid performances in the loss. Pustovyi totaled eight points on 3 for 4 shooting from the field with seven rebounds and three blocks while Yusta added six points, five rebounds and two steals. Alec Brown also played well in limited action with six points on 3 for 4 shooting from the floor to go along with five rebounds, including three offensive boards.

Just one week after he had his best showing since landing in Spain, Tyler Haws a difficult day. He finished with four points on 2 for 8 shooting from the field, including 0 for 2 from 3-point range. He added three rebounds and a turnover in 18 minutes. He wasn’t the only key player for Rio Natura who had a rough game. Adam Waczynski managed just four points on 1 for 12 shooting from the floor, including o for 5 from 3-point land with five rebounds and an assist while Donnie McGrath had five points on 2 for 6 shooting from the floor, including 1 for 3 from distance with two assists and four turnovers in 21 minutes.

On the season, Haws has played in six games and has averaged 10.5 points on 55.6 percent shooting from 2-point range, 31.3 percent from beyond the arc and 100 percent from the free-throw line. He also chips in with 2.2 rebounds in 20.5 minutes.

Up next is a matchup with Tuenti Movil Estudiantes Madrid. Estudiantes is 1-5 on the season with their only win coming against Iberostar Tenerife CB Canarias.
