The Cougar pro basketball tracker, Tyler Haws, game 1: Haws shows shooting form in easy win

Tyler Haws had an excellent shooting performance in his first game in the ACB as Rio Natura Monbus Obradoiro crushed Basketball Sevilla 88-53 on Sunday.

After a slow start that saw them score just 15 first quarter points, Rio Natura outscored Sevilla 55 to 24 over the second and third quarters to run away with the huge victory.

Haws played 23:44 in the big win finished with 11 points on 5 for 6 shooting from the floor, including a make on his only 3-point attempt. He added three rebounds, two steals and an assist, and was a +20 while on the floor.

He had plenty of help as Rio Natura improved to 1-0 on the season as four other players scored in double figures. Angelo Caloiaro (San Franciso) led the way with 21 points on 7 for 11 shooting from the floor, including 50 percent from beyond the arc to go along with six rebounds and three steals.

Donnie McGrath (Providence) and Adam Waczynski also came up big in the season opener. McGrath totaled 12 points on 50 percent shooting from the floor to go along with six rebounds, a team-high six assists and a pair of steals while Waczynski registered 13 points on 4 for 5 shooting from the floor, including a perfect 3 for 3 from 3-point land. Eimantas Bendzius also made some nice contributions with 13 points on 6 for 7 shooting from the free-throw line with six rebounds and four assists.

Alfonso Sanchez led the way for Sevilla with eight points on the strength of a 5 for 6 shooting night from the free-throw line. LaDontae Henton (Providence) managed six points on 2 for 7 shooting from the floor with five rebounds and a steal while former Houston Rocket and New Jersey Net Bostjan Nachbar totaled six points on 3 for 9 shooting.

Former Toronto Raptor Uros Slokar also finished with six points on with six rebounds and two assists while Weber State product Scott Bamforth contributed four points on 2 for 7 shooting with four rebounds and two assists.

Up next for Haws and Rio Natura is a matchup with Laboral Kutxa Vitoria on Sunday. Laboral Kutxa is 1-0 on the young season after an 85-58 win over Tuenti Movil Estudiantes. Laboral Kutxa is led by point guard Mike James (Lamar) who scored 17 points on 5 for 9 shooting in the first game win. Other impact players to look out for are Ioannis Bourousis and Fabien Causeur. Bourousis had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds while Causeur recorded 19 points on 7 for 12 shooting from the floor, including 3 for 6 from beyond the 3-point arc. The one familiar face on the roster is former Utah standout Kim Tillie who had six points, five rebounds and a game-high four steals.
