The hype surrounding the 2015-16 version of the Utah Jazz is off the charts – and for good reason. It’s because of the great young talent that litters the Jazz roster. In fact, Utah have some of the best young players in the game today. The question that we are here to answer is just how good are they compared to the other young stars in the league.

These rankings are based on two things – production and potential. Some players have already made a name for themselves while others have shown that they are superstars in the making.

Here is my list of the top 25 players in the NBA under the age of 25.

25. Terrence Jones, 23, Houston Rockets

Jones has already shown the ability to score the ball from inside and out while blocking plenty of shots. In 2014-15, he played 33 games and averaged 11.7 points on 52.8 perent shooting from the floor. He added 6.7 rebounds, 1.8 blocks and 1.1 assists in 26.9 minutes.

So far in his career, he has played 128 games and averaged 11.0 points o 53.1 percent shooting with 6.4 rebounds, 1.4 blocks and 1.1 assists in 25.3 minutes.

24. Alec Burks, 24, Utah Jazz

Burks was just starting to find his footing in Quin Snyder’s system before a shoulder injury ended his season. Burks is an impressive scorer who is at his best going to the basket. In 2014-15, he played 27 games and averaged 13.9 points on 38.2 percent shooting from 3-point land. He added 4.2 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 33.3 minutes.

To this point in his career, he has played 228 games and has averaged 10.3 points on 43.6 percent shooting with 2.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 22.7 minutes.

23. Nikola Mirotic, 24, Chicago Bulls

Mirotic showed off some impressive scoring skills in his first season in the NBA. In 82 games, he averaged 10.2 points on 40.5 percent shooting from the floor to go along with 4.9 rebounds and 1.2 assists in just 20.2 minutes. Those numbers where good enough to earn a spot on the 2014-15 All-Rookie first-team.

22. Jared Sullinger, 23, Boston Celtics

Sullinger has developed into an important part of the Celtics’ success under coach Brad Stevens. He has the size and strength to do work in the paint to go along with a nice face-up game. He also can get it done on the glass as well as find the open man when the double-team comes. During the 2014-15 season, he averaged 13.3 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 27.0 minutes a night.

To this point in his career, he has played 177 games and averaged 11.4 points on 44 percent shooting with 7.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 25.4 minutes.

21. Elfrid Payton, 21, Orlando Magic

Payton did a very nice job running the show for the Orlando Magic as a rookie. He played all 82 games and averaged 8.9 points on 42.5 percent shooting from the field. He added 6.5 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 1.7 steals in 30.4 minutes. Those numbers were good enough to finish in the top 10 in total assists and steals and earn a spot on the all-rookie first-team.

20. Ricky Rubio, 24, Minnesota Timberwolves

Rubio has struggled with injuries early in his NBA career, but has done enough to make this list. He is a pass-first point guard who can distribute the ball at a high level and also a solid defender. During the 2014-15 season, he averaged 10.3 points, 8.8 assists, 5.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals in 31.5 minutes a night.

For his career, he has played 202 games and has averaged 10.2 points on 36.7 percent shooting with 8.2 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 2.3 steals in 31.8 minutes.

19. Enes Kanter, 23, Oklahoma City Thunder

Kanter was a great fit for the Oklahoma City Thunder after arriving in a trade deadline deal. He is one of the most skilled offensive big men in the game because of his ability to score with his back to the basket or in the mid-range. He would be much higher on this list if it weren’t for his significant struggles on the defensive side of the ball. For the 2014-15 season, he averaged 15.5 points on 51.9 percent shooting with 8.9 rebounds in 28.5 minutes a game.

To this point in his career, he has played 291 games and averaged 10.2 points on 51.1 percent shooting with 6.4 rebounds in 21.4 minutes.

18. Jonas Valanciunas, 23, Toronto Raptors

Valanciunas is the center piece of the young Raptors’ front-line. Even though he is underutilized, he is difficult to stop if he gets deep post position because of his nice touch around the rim. He also does a nice job on the glass and can even block a shot or two. During the 2014-15 season, he averaged 12.0 points on 57.2 percent shooting from the floor to go along with 8.7 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 26.2 minutes a night.

To this point in his career, he has played in 223 games and averaged 10.9 points on 55.3 percent shooting with 8.0 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 26.3 minutes.

17. Brandon Knight, 23, Phoenix Suns

Although Knight struggled in his short stint with the Phoenix Suns, he has already shown that he can be a dynamic player in the NBA. In 2014-15, he played 63 games and averaged 17.0 points on 42.2 percent shooting from the floor. He added 5.2 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 32.3 minutes.

So far in his career, he has played 276 games and averaged 15.2 points on 41.7 percent shooting with 4.5 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 32.4 minutes.

16. Michael Carter-Williams, 23, Milwaukee Bucks

Carter-Williams is a fantastic young guard who has been very solid during his two seasons in the league. In 2014-15, he split the season between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Milwaukee Bucks and made some nice contributions. He played 66 games and averaged 14.6 points, 6.7 assists, 5.3 rebounds and 1.7 steals in 32.6 minutes.

To this point in his career, he has played in 136 games and has averaged 15.7 points on 40.2 percent shooting with 6.5 assists, 5.8 rebounds and 1.8 steals in 33.6 minutes.

15. Jabari Parker, 20, Milwaukee Bucks

Parker played just 25 games in his rookie season before a knee injury ended his year. During that short window, he showed enough to earn mention on this list. He averaged 12.3 points on 49.0 percent shooting from the floor to go along with 5.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.2 steals in 29.5 minutes.

14. Tobias Harris, 23, Orlando Magic

Harris has shown he could do a bit of everything in his two and a half seasons in Orlando. He played 68 games in 2014-15 and averaged 17.1 points on 46.6 percent shooting from the floor. He added 6.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.0 steals in 34.8 minutes.

So far in his career, he has played 226 games and has averaged12.7 points on 46.3 percent shooting with 5.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 26.5 minutes.

13. Nerlens Noel, 21, Philadelphia 76ers

While his offensive game is far from complete, Noel does so many other things well. He is long and athletic which makes him a huge presence as a shot blocker. In 2014-15, he played 75 games and averaged 9.9 points on 46.2 percent shooting from the floor. He added 8.1 rebounds, 1.9 blocks, 1.8 steals and 1.7 assists in 30.8 minutes. Those numbers were good enough to earn first-team all-rookie honors.

12. Bradley Beal, 22, Washington Wizards

Beal is part of one of the best young back courts in the NBA with John Wall. He is a very fluid offensive player who has great touch from the outside (42 percent from 3-point range on 4.3 attempts a game). During the 2014-15 season, he averaged 15.3 points on 42.7 percent shooting from the floor with 3.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.2 steals in 33.4 minutes a night.

For his career, he has played 192 games and averaged 15.6 points on 40 percent shooting from beyond the arc to go along with 3.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steals in 33.2 minutes.

11. Victor Oladipo, 23, Orlando Magic

Oladipo is a very skilled all-around player who has made a big impact for the Orlando Magic each of his two seasons. In 2014-15, he played 72 games and averaged 17.9 points on 43.6 percent shooting from the floor. He added 4.2 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.7 steals in 35.7 minutes.

To this point in his career, he has played 152 games and has averaged 15.8 points on 42.8 percent shooting with 4.2 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.6 steals in 33.3 minutes.

10. Giannis Antetokounmpo, 20, Milwaukee Bucks

Antetokounmpo is a fantastic athlete who is just starting to come into his own as a player. He took a huge step forward in his first season under coach Jason Kidd in 2014-15 when he averaged 12.7 points on 49.1 percent shooting from the floor. He added 6.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.0 blocks in 31.4 minutes.

So far in his career, he has played 158 games and averaged 9.8 points on 46.4 percent shooting with 5.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 28.1 minutes.

9. Nikola Vucevic, 24, Orlando Magic

Vucevic is one of the most polished scoring big men in the game today and an excellent rebounder. In 2014-15, he played 74 games and averaged 19.3 points on 52.3 percent shooting from the floor. He added 10.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 34.2 minutes.

So far in his career, he has played 259 games and averaged 13.6 points on 51.1 percent shooting with 10.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 29.8 minutes.

8. Derrick Favors, 24, Utah Jazz

Favors has thrived in a starting role over the last two seasons and has become one of the best young big men in the game. In 2014-15, he played 74 games and averaged 16.0 points on 52.5 percent shooting from the floor. He added 8.2 rebounds, 1.7 blocks and 1.5 assists in 30.8 minutes.

So far in his career, he has played 367 games and has averaged 10.9 points on 51.2 percent shooting with 7.2 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 1.0 assists in 25 minutes.

7. Rudy Gobert, 23, Utah Jazz

Gobert changed the fortunes of the Utah Jazz once he began getting meaningful minutes in his second season. He is a shot blocking machine and a great rebounder. In 2014-15, he played 82 games and averaged 8.4 points on 60.4 percent shooting from the floor. He added 9.5 rebounds, 2.3 blocks and 1.3 assists in 26.3 minutes.

So far in his NBA career, he has played 127 games and has averaged 6.2 points on 58.7 percent shooting with 7.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 20.4 minutes.

6. Andrew Wiggins, 20, Minnesota Timberwolves

Wiggins proved why he was the No. 1 pick in the 2014 draft with a tremendous rookie season. He started all 82 games and averaged 16.9 points on 43.7 percent shooting from the floor. He added 4.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.0 steals in 36.2 minutes. His production was good enough to be named the 2014-15 NBA Rookie of the Year.

5. Andre Drummond, 22, Detroit Pistons

Free-throw shooting aside, Drummond is a fantastic player. He can finish at the rim, is an excellent shot blocker and owns the back boards. In 2014-15, he started all 82 games and averaged 13.8 points on 51.4 percent shooting from the floor. He added 13.5 rebounds and 1.9 blocks in 30.5 minutes.

To this point in his career, he has played 223 games and averaged 12.1 points on 57 percent shooting with 11.8 rebounds, 1.7 blocks and 1.0 steals in 28.5 minutes.

4. Kawhi Leonard, 24, San Antonio Spurs

Leonard has gone from a solid role player into the most important piece to the Spurs future in four short years. He is a lockdown defender and an improving scorer. In 2014-15, he played 64 games and averaged 16.5 points on 47.9 percent shooting from the floor. He added 7.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists and a league-leading 2.3 steals in 31.8 minutes. He was first-team all-defense and the defensive player of the year.

So far in his career, he has played 252 games and averaged 12.3 points on 49.6 percent shooting with 6.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.8 steals in 29 minutes.

3. John Wall, 24, Washington Wizards

His explosiveness and court vision make Wall one of the best point guards in the game today. He is already the backbone of the up-and-coming Wizards. In 2014-15, he made his second consecutive all-star games after he appeared in 79 games and averaged 17.6 points on 44.5 percent shooting from the floor. He added 10.0 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.7 steals in 35.9 minutes.

To this point in his career, he has played 345 games and averaged 17.6 points on 43.1 percent shooting with 8.7 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 36 minutes.

2. Kyrie Irving, 23, Cleveland Cavaliers

Irving has been an impressive scorer since the moment he stepped on an NBA floor. In 2014-15, he made his third straight all-star game after he played 75 games and averaged 21.7 points on 46.8 percent shooting from the floor, including 41.5 percent from 3-point range. He added 5.2 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 36.4 minutes a game.

To this point in his career, he has played 256 games and averaged 21 points on 45.3 percent shooting with 5.7 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 34.5 minutes.

1. Anthony Davis, 22, New Orleans Pelicans

Davis was the clear choice for No. 1 on this list. He is already one of the elite players in the world today and his game is only getting better. In 2014-15, he played 68 games and averaged 24.4 points on 53.5 percent shooting from the floor. He added 10.2 rebounds, 2.9 blocks, 2.2 assists and 1.5 steals. Those numbers earned him a second straight trip to the all-star game, a spot on the all-defensive second team and first-team all-NBA.

So far in his career, he has played 199 games and averaged 19.7 points on 52.5 percent shooting with 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 blocks, 1.6 assists and 1.3 steals in 33.5 minutes.
