Matt Carlino was the only one that shot the ball well for the Golden Eagles as they dropped to 4-4 on the season with a 49-38 setback against the No. 2 ranked Wisconsin Badgers.
Frank Kaminsky paced Wisconsin with 15 points on 5 of 9 shooting as well as 10 rebounds, four steals and three blocks. Josh Gasser added 12 points on 4 of 8 shooting from behind the arc as the Badgers improved to 8-1 on the season even though they shot just 17 of 52 from the field (32.7 percent).
Other than Carlino, no other Golden Eagle player had more than six points on an afternoon where they shot 13 of 45 from the floor (28.9 percent). Steve Taylor Jr. had six points and five rebounds, while Juan Anderson added three points and 10 boards.
Carlino led the way for Marquette with a game-high 18 points on 6 of 11 shooting from the floor, including 3 of 5 from beyond the arc. He also made 3 of 4 from the free-throw line. He chipped in with four rebounds, an assist and a steal, but also had five turnovers in 34 minutes.
Carlino had eight of 15 Marquette points in the first half, including a pair of 3-pointers. He totaled 10 points in the second half, including a stretch where he scored five straight to cut the Wisconsin lead to just six with 2:05 remaining.
