The value of telling your story

I think one of the reasons why I love sports so much is because I am a huge fan of the back story.  I get a huge kick out of seeing how all of the best players got to where they were and what it took for them to be great.  That is why I get such a big kick out of sports documentaries and biographies.

The neat part is when I get to see the best in the world, do some of the same things that I do.  Knowing that I share similar vision and drive as some of the world’s best builds my confidence on so many levels.  The reason is because it helps me to know that I am doing the things I need to do to be successful and that others have been down the same road I am trying to travel.

It is also important to see that even the legends have failed along the way, but they still managed to get  to where they wanted to go.  That gives me hope when the light at the end of the tunnel gets dim and I have a hard time seeing the end of the road.

I value the opportunity to learn from others and appreciate when they are willing to tell their story for the benefit of those around them.

After all, we all have a story to tell and there are plenty of people who can learn from our experiences.  All we have to do is be willing to share our successes, our failures  and the things that helped shape us into who we are today.
