Before Friday night, Corey Brewer had a season high of 27 points. In fact, his NBA career-high in his seven years in the league was 29 points. That was until Brewer faced off against James Harden and the Houston Rockets.
Without the services of Kevin Love, Kevin Martin and Nikola Pekovic, Brewer took the lead role for the Timberwolves and came away with the night of his life in a 112-110 win over the Rockets.
Brewer finished the night with 51 points on 19-of-30 shooting from the field and 11-of-15 from the free-throw line. On top of smashing his career-high, Brewer also added six steals and a pair of rebounds in nearly 45 minutes of play.
To put his night into proper context all you have to do is look at Brewer’s career. In 463 games prior to Friday night, Brewer averaged 9.9 points on 42.6 percent shooting. Even in his highest scoring season, Brewer averaged just 13 points a night. So far this season, Brewer was averaging 11.7 points a game. Those numbers make his 51 point effort one of the most unlikely 50 point games in NBA history.
