The Bulls had absolutely no answer for Kevin Durant as the Oklahoma City went into Chicago and came away with 97-85 victory on Monday night. Durant finished with 35 points on 11-of-21 shooting to go along with 12 rebounds and five assists for the 49-18 Thunder. Oklahoma City also got a big night from Russell Westbrook who put up a near triple-double with 17 points, nine rebounds and nine assists. They were joined in double figures by Serge Ibaka, Caron Butler and Reggie Jackson who finished with 15, 12 and 11 points respectively.
Chicago was led in scoring by Taj Gibson who registered 16 points and seven rebounds off the bench. The Bulls also got a terrific all-around performance from Joakim Noah even though he shot the ball poorly. Noah tallied nine points, 12 rebounds and nine assists as well as a pair of steals. Carlos Boozer added 12 points and 11 rebounds in the loss.
Jimmer didn’t play once again. It is hard to figure out why he doesn’t get minutes on a night where his counterparts don’t shoot the ball well at all. Kirk Hinrich, Jimmy Butler and D.J Augustin combined to shoot 10-for-35 from the floor including 3-of-17 from behind the arc.
The Bulls are back in action on Wednesday night when they travel to Philadelphia to take on the hapless 76ers.
