The Utes made a significant move on the offensive coaching staff today after suffering through another 5-7 season on the hill. Brian Johnson and Dennis Erickson are no longer co-offensive coordinators as Utah brought in former Wyoming head coach Dave Christensen. With the demotions of Johnson and Erickson as well as the hiring of Christensen, Utah no has four coaches now on staff that were once at least the co-offensive coordinator for the Utes.

I can’t be the only one that sees a huge problem with this. When there are too many cooks in the kitchen nothing ever gets done right.
I have no issue with the Johnson demotion, but thought that Erickson could use another year with a healthy quarterback to show what he could do as the OC.
When you never have any continuity on the offensive side of the ball you are never going to find any success. Players need to have the ability to learn one system and grow with it. Changing things every year just doesn’t make any sense.
Kyle Wittingham and the Utes need to sit back and quit moving so hastily when it comes to changing coaches after having a rough season. You hired Erickson for a reason. Why not give him a chance to see if he can make things work with a full complement of players before you kick him to the curb?
Change isn’t always the answer!
