I just finished watching the end of the MLS title game between RSL and Sporting Kansas City and I just have one thought that I need to put into words right now.

The winner and the loser of the match was immaterial to me when they got to penalty kicks.  The reason for that is because it is the worst way to end a sporting event ever.

Its like telling two NFL teams in the Super Bowl that If it’s tied at the end of overtime then you go and just kick field goals to see who wins;  Or telling teams in game seven of the NBA Finals that they are just going to rotate through and shoot free throws to decide who wins the game if the game is tied at the end of overtime.

Imagine if hockey did that in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.  We would have missed out on some of the greatest moments in sports history.

There has to be a better way to decide the outcome.  Why not just keep playing?

I have some opinions on what it should be, but for now all I know is they need to get rid of penalty kicks at the end of matches because that is just a joke.
