I am so sick of turning on the television or the radio and having to hear about another athlete who has done something stupid or even worse.

Just because you are an athlete does not mean you are above the law and you should not and cannot act that way.  That kind of behavior is starting to ruin the games for me.  All we hear about is cases of cheating, bullying and now even another case of sexual assault.

This kind of garbage has to stop.  I know that the sports media has to cover it but I just can’t stand it anymore.  You are revered as athletes.  You are looked up to by millions of children and young adults for your exploits in your respective sports.  That should mean something to you.  They watch what you are doing every single day.  If you screw up then some of them think that it is alright to do the same kind of things.

Being a great athlete is not a get out of jail free card.

You need to be responsible for your actions and be positive role models for all those who look up to you.  Maybe it’s time to realize that money and fame don’t give you power.  It gives you added responsibility to make right choices and to do good things.

We don’t hear often enough about the athletes that are out there trying to make a real positive difference in the lives of other because of what they have earned on the field or on the court.

I would love it that those kind of stories were made as public and scrutinized in the same way so that we don’t all see the bad side of athletes and sports in general.
