The Matt Carlino tracker: Game 10

The Marquette Golden Eagles used a terrific performance to come away with an easy 83-49 victory over the Alabama A&M Bulldogs on Friday night. Marquette made 30 of 49 shots from the floor (61.2 percent) and 18 of 21 from the free-throw line (85.7 percent) to secure the win.

Luke Fischer carried the scoring load for the Golden Eagles with 22 points on 8 of 8 shooting from the field to go along with six rebounds. Steve Taylor Jr., and Juan Anderson also shoot the ball well as the Golden Eagles improved to 6-4 on the season. Taylor Jr. scored 16 points on 7 of 8 shooting while adding six rebounds and two steals while Anderson had 13 points on 80 percent shooting with seven rebounds and four assists.

The Bulldogs were led by Rakiya Battle who totaled 18 points on 7 of 12 shooting from the floor and a five assists. Nicholas West also had a solid night with 14 points, nine rebounds and a block.

Matt Carlino was in a very giving mood in his 28 minutes on the floor.  He finished with eight points on 2 of 4 shooting from the field, including 1 of 2 from the 3-point line and 3 of 3 from the free-throw line. He added a game-high eight assists, three rebounds, a steal and a block.

After a slow start to the game (three points on 1 of 3 shooting in the first half), he had a tremendous second half showing. He assisted on eight of the 13 Marquette field goals, including five of the first six. On top of that, he didnt miss a shot from the field or from the line.

Up next for Carlino and the Golden Eagles is a game against North Dakota on Monday night.
