I watched game 4 in the NBA Finals on Thursday night like many basketball fans and then I went into geek mode by watching all of the post game content. I watched the recaps, the press conferences and so much analysis that it would make the most avid fan sick. During the break down of the game from some of the game’s top minds I couldn’t help but notice all of the questions on what the Heat could do to get back into the series. They mentioned how the Heat were tired and how the Spurs have played almost flawlessly on the offensive end. As I listened, I just shock my head. Sometimes I wonder if these experts and analysts even watched the game because none of them mentioned what is so obvious to me.
The Heat need to play harder on the defensive end. It’s as simple as that! Too many times in game 3 and 4 the Heat just stood and watched as the Spurs got easy buckets. Their rotations after the first pass were none existent and San Antonio took advantage of that. San Antonio made the extra pass and got lay-ups as Miami players did nothing.
I understand that the season is long and that playing 100 basketball games will take something out of you, but you are playing for the biggest prize in the game. The least you can do as a player is show some heart and passion. After all, that is exactly what the Heat need to do if they want to extend this series.
