The Wizards escaped with a 101-99 victory to secure the road sweep after Kirk Hinrich missed a pair of free-throws with 2.4 seconds remaining in overtime that would have tied the game.
Bradley Beal led the way for Washington with 26 points On 4-of-7 shooting from behind the arc to go along with seven rebounds and two steals. The Wizards also got big nights from Nene and John Wall in the win. Nene registered 17 points and seven rebounds while Wall totaled 16 points, six rebounds and seven assists.
D.J. Augustin and Taj Gibson provided huge scoring nights for the Bulls of the bench. Augustin finished with 25 points and seven assists while Gibson added 22 points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots. Joakim Noah also had a big game in a losing effort with 20 points, 12 rebounds and three assists.
Jimmer did not play even though the starting backcourt of Hinrich and Jimmy Butler finished with just 18 points on 7-of-22 shooting in nearly 85 minutes on the floor.
I know Coach Thibodeau is a defensive guy, but when the Bulls go through long stretches without scoring its time to mix up the rotation a bit and put Jimmer on the floor. If nothing else you can use him as a decoy so that they can spread the floor and create more lanes and open space for limited offensive players to operate.
The Bulls and Wizards play game three on Friday night in Washington.
