Without the services of their two biggest stars in DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay, the Sacramento Kings were able to take the league leading Indiana Pacers into overtime on Friday night before falling 116-11. Paul George led Indiana with 36 points as all five Pacer’s starters scored in double figures. George also added five rebounds, four steals and two blocks. Lance Stephenson and David West each played a huge role in the victory. Stephenson registered 24 points,10 rebounds and six assists, while West contributed 22 points and six boards. The Pacers other two starters also provided solid all-around games even though neither shot well as Roy Hibbert tallied 10 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks while George Hill just missed out on a triple-double with 10 points, eight rebounds, eight assists while adding three steals.
Without Cousins and Gay, the Kings relied on their starting back court to lead the way and both Marcus Thornton and Isaiah Thomas didn’t disappoint. Thornton put up 42 points on 7-of-15 shooting from 3-point range and five rebounds while Thomas went for 38 points to go along with six helpers. Besides Thomas and Thornton, the Kings made just 10-of-43 field goal attempts in defeat.
Jimmer played 9:52 and finished with five points on 2-of-5 shooting as well as handing out a pair of assists. Fredette also had three turnovers on the night as the Kings record fell to 15-27.
Sacramento will be back in action on Sunday night as the Denver Nuggets come to town for a Western Conference battle.
