The Packers got a steal in Eddie Lacy

I know that the running back position has been devalued in the NFL, but how in the world did a player like Eddie Lacy slip to the end of the second round of the 2013 draft.

Lacy was an absolute monster at Alabama in limited carries.  In three years with the Crimson Tide, Lacy carried the ball 355 times for 2402 yards and 30 touchdowns.  That’s an average of 6.8 yard per carry which is third all-time in SEC history.  Even with a resume’ like that Lacy wasn’t selected until the 61st pick of the second round by the Packers.

After a sluggish start to the season, thanks impart to a brutal hit that caused a concussion against the Redskins, Lacy rushed for 1127 yards in the last 13 games of the season and 10 touchdowns.  He also added 34 receptions even though he has been hampered for the later part of the season with an ankle injury.

Lacy is a big, strong, physical back who will have an impressive career with the Packers as long as he can stay healthy.

He is definitely far too talented to have had to wait until late on the second day to hear his name called in the draft.
