BYU ends season on a sour note at the hands of the Washington Huskies

The BYU Cougar football season came to an end on Friday night in less than impressive fashion at the hands of the Washington Huskies 31-16.  Even though the Cougars dominated possession most of the contest, it was mistakes on special teams and strong running from Bishop Sankey that did them in.

Sankey carried the ball 21 times for 95 yards of the Huskies 190 yards on the ground and two scores.  Washington only gained 129 yards through the air but thanks to some great kickoff returns that was more than enough to leave San Francisco with a 15 point win.

Taysom Hill had a solid performance with 293 yards passing and 133 yards on the ground and the Cougars only touchdown.  His favorite target on the night was senior Cody Hoffman who finished with 12 catches for 167 yards in his final game in a Cougar uniform.

This was a season of ups and downs for BYU that was effected greatly by injuries, suspensions and the inability to make big plays against big time teams when it mattered most.  Those are the things that the majority of Cougar fans will remember most.  Even though this season didn’t end in the manner I had hoped for, there were still plenty of moments that will stay with me.  All you have to do is look back at the Texas game.  That was the most dominant rushing performances I have ever seen and may ever see in my life time.

While everyone else is searching for answers, I will be watching re-runs of that game and thinking about how bright the future is for Taysom Hill and the BYU Cougars.
